Interesting that Celtics owner Grousbeck had gone on the record saying that operating the team at a loss was not a concern and also said that ownership would get paid in parades, not profits.
Now he's had a parade and wants out.
To let someone else bear the brunt of operating the franchise perhaps (the 2024-25 salary cap was set a day or two ago and they gave Jayson Tatum a record extension earlier today).
And while the asking price for his controlling stake is at a premium in the afterglow of the title.

I don't understand how a good NBA franchise can lose money. I know that player salaries are exorbitant, but so are the media rights deals, game tickets, concession prices, parking prices, swag prices.

Agree, NoMich. Salary cap is a percentage of revenues so it shouldn't cause losses.

losing money can only mean mismanagement. the price of everything related to team is so high, it's a crime to lose money!! but here in Belgium it's very different, our basketball is so weak it's hardly makin any money cheers The Belgian Florist, Brussels
